THE GARDENER'S BOOK OF VERSE by Helen Van Pelt-Ed. Wilson

THE GARDENER'S BOOK OF VERSE

By

Publisher: Morrow-Barrows

A nosegay of verse blooms as familiar as dandelions-- ""April laughs its girlish laughter"" and ""Delphiniums have come to call."" Frost, Masefield, Marvell, Lowell, Tennyson, Wordsworth, they're all there predominantly-- with a few of the ladies, Emily Dickinson and Elizabeth Coatsworth and Sara Teasdale, and no really modern poetry although Christopher Fry, Marianne Moore and Rachel Field are the closest to it. The mood throughout is gratefully lyrical and the collection is divided into ""five seasons."" The only market which suggests itself readily is that of the gift to the garden club circuit.
