KIRKUS REVIEW

Completely revised, with new chapters, new lists, new photographs, this will be welcomed by as who found its predecessor invaluable- and by others who will rejoice in some of the inclusions. A section on ferns; another on quality edgings; a sane handling of the problem of biennials; a rich assortment of lists- some special items such as shade tolerant plants, drought resistant plants, seashore, pale and scented, etc. The c does what a calendar should- outline the things to be done the year round. This is a very personal book, in which her own borders and specialty gardens provide the basis for the necessary know-how of a chiefly perennial garden. And the introductory summary of eight essentials should be a creed for all gardeners. There are severs garden available at this viewing.
