The original book was a trailblazer in 1947; the 1951 edition was virtually a new book; this 1963 edition is a revise, taking into consideration the ever changing data on cultivars, and omitting the plant lists. Existing material is updated and ""new material is added on genetics, fluorescent lighting, flower arranging, selling violets, photographing them, and planning club programs"". A new chapter on other gesneriads has been added. Quite definitely this is a definitive book for the specialists-and their name is legion.
