KIRKUS REVIEW

Granddaughter -- niece -- and wife of a gam, Helen Hamlin is born and bred to the life. She had brief interlude as a teacher; then came courtship and marriage to Curly, and their life in the Forestry Service at Ukis and Nine Mile. Their work, winter life as they are snowbound and the radio breaks down, life in the spring as they fish and travel, their trips outside; the training of a four which makes winters more interesting; tra camp near them; and finally -- with a baby coming -- they go back to civilization. Vivid depiction of authentic outdoor life.
