THE QUESTIONS GIRLS ASK

This was originally published in 1939, and was closely linked with the so-called ""Bethlehem Plan"". That emphasis has been removed in the revised edition; some of the angles have been brought into stream-lined modernity, but in 1939 and in 1949, the prevailing quality of the book is its commonsense, middle of the road attitude, its sustaining of a high level code of conduct. Basically, a sound book, with a sane approach to problems of behavior, good taste, and laying the foundations for a good life. The title, however, is misleading, as it refers to the method of determining what to put into the book- but certainly ignores whole realms of ""the questions girls ask""- in 1949. This dates it, a bit, when one considers such books as Baruch's Glass House of Prejudice and others that face squarely the problems of intolerance, religion, citizenship, world problems, etc. So make sure you know that this is specifically a junior manners and etiquette book, direct and simple enough for Junior High level, and to be recommended in the field of books on human behavior on the social level.
