BUTCH ELECTS A MAYOR

That's the way it seems but it hadn't oughter--Butch's father shouldn't owe his victory (""everyone. . . said the same thing"") to a newspaperman's report of Butch's mistakes trying to help: drumming up sympathy is one thing, determining an election another. In any case Butch is one of those stock comic figures whose every effort goes awry: at campaign headquarters he turns on the fan and scatters letters and envelopes among the irate diners next door; on the day of the Scout parade he guides his father's motorcade into its midst (why only Butch is supposed to know about ""the big parade up Main Avenue"" is baffling to begin with); during his father's election-eve rally he blows a fuse trying to make the mike work (why it doesn't remains a mystery). Even as TV situation comedy this is pretty feeble.
