A FRENCH BOOK TO READ ALL BY YOURSELF

Excellent and original, both in theory and working out. The content is much more natural and interesting than any French primer I have encountered; the method of building vocabulary is virtually painless. I question whether (a) any youngster would read it ""all by himself"" -- (b) whether it would be possible to achieve the end without substantial help on pronunciation. The introductory material on sounds is obscure without previous understanding. The section plunging into verbs is not as carefully integrated as the balance. Otherwise, I should say it was almost fool proof. Good for home or school.
