When his ex-fiancee goes missing on a science expedition in Russia, supersecret security agent Reid Armstrong abandons his vacation plans and sneaks into the country to save her, only to discover something very mysterious and dangerous going on.

Geologist Cara Layne knows the work she’s doing in the wilds of Russia, ostensibly for a documentary about a puzzling hiking accident that took place years ago, has an edgier scope, but even she’s not sure what it’s truly about. So when her camp is attacked and her colleagues disappear while she's mysteriously dragged to relative safety, she doesn’t know where to turn. She's outwardly enraged when her ex-fiancee shows up to help her, since he used a tracker he’d implanted without her consent to find her, but she's also secretly relieved. She knows Reid is part of a top-secret military security agency, The Alliance—a little Black Ops, a little CIA—since they met when he saved her from a kidnapping, but they broke up when she couldn’t be sure their relationship was anything more than an adrenaline rush. Now he’s back in her life, in the middle of another life-or-death event, and she wants nothing more than to cling to him until they’re home and safe, but can she trust yet another tension-driven escape as the basis for love? It’s a good question, especially since the danger is real and escalating and no one is quite clear who’s behind it: the nonprofit that backed the expedition, the Russian government, or some rogue villains who don’t mind creating a weapon that could potentially destroy the world. Dimon brings a heart-pounding mix of sexy romance and nonstop action to an intriguing plot, and the combination of smart storytelling and characters who share red-hot chemistry and believable conflict makes for lively, compelling reading.

A sharp, complex, and intense romantic-suspense novel.
