FRIDL: A Mountain Boy

The Austrian Tyrol is the setting for this picture of a year in the life of a boy who during that year comes into his birthright as a mountain lad. His father was a guide, but Fridl had not been allowed to take very hard climbs. Bit by bit, he is trained to an understanding of the perils of the mountains, and when he has proved himself in smaller ways, his father accepts him as ready for the harder tests. Into the story is woven a great deal about the life and activities of adults and children, and there's a bit of a mystery as well.
