THE MOUSEDEER by Hendrik de Leeuw

THE MOUSEDEER

By

Publisher: Harper

An undistinguished telling of East Indian tales in which the tiny mousedeer is the cleverest animal in the jungle. While some of the stories are recognisable as true folk material there is little Eastern atmosphere in either stories or pictures. A collection of stories, many of which were about the mousedeer, done by this author some years ago and new out of print, seemed far more authentic as folk lore, although this book which is large sized with numerous pictures in green, black and white on every page, by Tibor Gergeley, would appeal to younger children who will probably find the illustrations amusing.
