This is Volume V in the Episcopal Church's ""Church's Teaching"" series, but it is not exclusively or too strictly denominational. It is devoted to Christian ethics, and is based on the Christian concept of freedom. It deals with the fundamental problems of our 20th century society, which include those of self, marriage and family, church and local community, national and international affairs, and freedom in terms of the mature personality. The author is the Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Olympia (Washington) and he has at his command an incisive style that is never boring or dull. Words are accurately used to reveal the meaning of the Christian tradition and its full bearing on the complexities of modern living. Laymen especially will be grateful for clear and persuasive thinking clearly expressed.
