An intimate friend, in telling the story of Stalin, gives the whole history of the movement which has made Russia into the Soviet States it is today. He covers a large field and does it clearly and intelligently and you cannot but be impressed by the vitality and singlemindedness of Russia's present leader as Barbusse presents him, utterly tireless and intent on his ideal. Stalin's loyalty and debt to Lenin and the quite magnificent way in which he surmounts all obstacles and outside criticism, his simplicity of manner despite his immense power are all here. Needless to say this is a defense and glorification of Sovietism and its results. Not for those who want a popular treatment, but for your customer who is intelligently interested in world events.
