LES LEPREUSES: The Lepers by Henri Montheriant

LES LEPREUSES: The Lepers

By

Publisher: Bernard Grasset

The last in the Pity For Women series in which Costals, that satanic misogynist is finally brought face to face with the marriage he has been irresolutely contemplating, then eluding for so long. He finally escapes from Solange, sweet but unintelligently adhesive, and goes to Morocco where he resumes an affair with an old mistress, now a leper. There, in the eastern conception of love, he thinks he finds the solution, since the oriental woman has gained wisdom and detachment through complete subjection to the man. But his conclusion reveals once again his ambivalent attitude toward women and that his emancipation is still incomplete. Not as holding a book as the last three, but Montheriant is always provocative.
