KIRKUS REVIEW

This is a natural -- a ""Freshman's Bible"" for enlisted men, which General Harbord calls ""A signpost on his road to promotion"". All the answers to the questions a recruit might like to ask -- if he could think fast enough. Here are some samples of the subjects covered: the gear you can take, physical examinations, clothes and their care, various ""balls"", drills, pay, time off, army slang, army insignia, food, housing, drink, hygiene, penalties for breaking rules, promotion chances, church, sports, chance for work in spare time -- and the do's and don'ts, ideals and standards. A good job.
