RUNNING A HAPPY FAMILY

Written for Americans with a distinctly American point of view, this text implores the successful man of affairs, the efficient club executive, to approach familial crises with the same considered effort he or she approaches outside business dilemas. Communication is presented as the groundwork for all smoothly run households. It is desirable that parents and their children speak; it is desirable that vocabularies are meaningful to all participants; it is desirable that ample time be given to communication. Planning family activities, delegating responsibility, avoidance of recurrent problems are also discussed here, the prescribed cure running parallel to prescribed cures in business management. Sensible enough as far as it goes, but to those who maintain that the family is a rich dynamic organism which defies the analysis of the efficiency expert, slightly distasteful.
