I liked the three smaller volumes from which this single volume is made at the time of original publication (The Tale of the Whitefoot Mouse, in 1940, The Tale of the Promethea Moth, in 1942, and The Tale of the Crow, in 1943). I like them still in this now one volume form. These are true life stories of the woods, in the cycles of three woodland creatures, with plenty of additional material on others.
