Taxonomically this is not hard to place; Reader's Digest Condensed Book fiction no better written than its story seems to call for about Otis Cruikshank, Director of Research at Trask Institute in need of funds; his daughter, Heather, who has a melanoma (one of the worst omas) sure to metastasize; and Robert Niles, Cruikshank's protege, an MD which the former is not, summoned to Trask where he is shown the scans of patient X (Heather). The scans are now clear but Cruikshank has broken every rule to inject her with his own transfer factor and get an immune reaction. This is all kept quiet while Cruikshank and Niles go ahead with the protocol on rabbits hoping to secure funds and a breakthrough, although four of the rabbits have a sudden retrogression which jeopardizes everything and everyone. . . . The equivalent of what you watch on television with a little sex, a little romance, and a couple of dedicated men peering into a petri dish.
