Historical romance and adventure, as young Dave, sailor and whalerman, returning to New Bedford, and Sophie, his Captain's daughter, gets a cold reception from his girl. A drinking boys in a waterfront brawl, from which he saves Sophie and and illegitimate daughter. Portuguese, of the Captain's. Gracios, involved in a plot for civil war in her country, wins him completely and signs him on the boat she is returning to her . There is plenty action on their trip across, acceptance of their st and donations by the Queen, and ening of Scaciosa.
