KIRKUS REVIEW

Gillen of the Boston Post has a New England audience that competes with Edgar Guest. He is the kind of poet that is clipped and filed for reference; a sort of people's laureate. He writes the right poem for the right day, whether it be Decoration Day, Mother's Day or Thanks giving. His background and his spirit is essentially New England, but there are ex-Yankees the country over who should provide a market for this collection of his verse. Simple and understanding of simple things -- homespun -- heart-warming.
