KIRKUS REVIEW

A story of the Cro-Magnons and of the boy Turi; who was lamed for life in a struggle with a bear. His mother saved him from death. And he learned to justify his being in a tribe where all must be strong and well, by making good medicine. First, he studied new ways to draw and paint the creatures they would kill. Then he tamed a wild dog, and taught his people new ways to hunt. First rate.
