KIRKUS REVIEW

Reference book for public libraries, for college libraries, for private libraries where comparative data on the history of books and printing is important. A collector -- an historian -- a student would find it useful. Begins with 300 B.C. and the building of the Alexandrian library, and comes up to 1935, four centuries after the printing of the first English Bible. Useful bibliography. Appendix contains outline history of types, etc. Includes a good deal of information not readily available elsewhere.
