KIRKUS REVIEW

The newest in hair raising sports is parachute jumping. Martin Caidin's recent book, The Silken Angels, was a history of jumping and the evolution of jumping techniques. This book concerns itself with survival after a jump has been completed. Mr. Best focuses on the survival information taught by the USAF schools. There are three schools -- Combat, Arctic, and Tropical survival. The instructors are ""living proof"" that the methods being taught work. How to save yourself in ice, water, mountainous or jungle terrain is clearly presented. For those readers who aren't likely to go jumping, the information is easily adaptable to camping and boating disasters.
