EL JIMMY: Outlaw of Patagonia

Not as exciting as ""outlaw"" sounds -- but a grand yarn of Patagonia with an English youth as the central figure. He came in the '90's as an adventurer -- and he found plenty. Fell in love with an Indian girl but lost her to a jockey in a horse race. He was jailed -- escaped -- and outlawed. He lived with the Indians and found again -- and rewon -- his Indian maiden. The telling of his story was inspired by misstatements made in Chase's A Yankee in Patagonia. Not sheer adventure -- but emphasis on social, political and economic backgrounds.
