KIRKUS REVIEW

One might think there is little more to be said about the keeping of Christmas anywhere in the world, so much about it having already been published. Indeed the Rev. Herbert H. Wernecke, Professor Emeritus of Biblical interpretation at Eden Theological Seminary, has himself written three other books of Christmas stories, songs and customs the world over. Here, however, he succeeds in offering fresh material, and although Europe and the United States provide most of the material, festivals from lands where the Church is a more recent arrival are also included. Together, 51 countries and peoples are referred to in this volume, which is bound to be of considerable and wide-spread interest, especially as Christmas time approaches.
