KIRKUS REVIEW

These two volumes are only the first part of a projected series which records Mayes' reading interests for a quarter of a century. Mayes' edited Good Housekeeping for twenty years and then transformed McCall's. These excerpts from plays, novels, songs, diaries, philosophy and history range from Xenophon to Dr. Spock, O'Neill to Konrad Lorenz, all apparently arranged in the order Mayes encountered them.
