KIRKUS REVIEW

Author of The Green Child, works of literary criticism and other high level books, here advances his theories for the reform of education along the lines of non-violent resistance to war. It is a learned treatise evolved from Freudian as well as Platonic principles and based on the premise that through mental disciplines of aesthetic culture psychologies and attitudes toward aggression and conflict may be changed. Education for peace therefor is a conditioning for a predisposition toward peace, an exchange of values to contrast with those now current. The argument leads from the international to the aesthetic, from the political to the cultural, and is a well rounded, stimulating piece of thinking and idea presentation.
