WAVES by Herbert S. Zim

WAVES

The first page of this book justifies the attention to waves in terms of the fact that wave forms are so important in the physical world. Yet the choice of ocean waves as the example is poor since in many respects they are not typical of wave phenomena in general. In fact, the author makes no real effort to emphasize the more general aspects of waves (brief references to refraction with no explanation of it) while spending relatively more time on tsunamis, or seismic waves. In general the book is shallow, and errs too often in illustration.
