EMMET FOX'S GOLDEN KEYS TO SUCCESSFUL LIVING

Emmet Fox was an Irish-born preacher who came to New York from England in 1931 and enjoyed considerable success as an inspirational orator and writer throughout the US and abroad. He died in 1951. This book offers an annotated summary of his teaching--his ""golden keys""--along with Herman and Blanche Wolhorn's reminiscences of the man they regard as a great modern mystic and religious teacher; they served him as all-around assistants throughout his ministry. Fox's religious system seems an individualized, rather ingenious blend of Christian Science and Dale Carnegie, with heavy emphasis on the power of prayer (and mind over matter generally) and on spiritual healing. We are all sparks of the divine and the more we realize it the more we will be able to master all aspects of our lives, both practical and spiritual. For those who enjoy being preached at and are uplifted by piously affirmative, heart-warming ideas, he propounds a neatly improvised kind of metaphysical Christianity with unswerving conviction and a certain panache--old-fashioned gnosticism with an up-to-date ring. However, none but Fox devotees will be able to stomach the sentimental adulation throughout the recollections of the great ""E.F.'s"" wondrous deeds and manner and his incessant preaching and traveling.
