LINCOLN'S LITTLE CORRESPONDENT

True story material, this- in the imaginative handling of the anecdote about eleven year old Grace Bedell, of Chautauqua Falls, New York, who took it upon herself to write Lincoln an admonitory letter about his looks, lest he fail in his campaign for reelection. Touched and amazed, Lincoln took her advice and grew a beard. The excitement caused in Grace's school and home when Lincoln answered her letter is tinder for the adventuresome spirit of youth. Hertha Pauli has endowed this little story with a contagious quality, without unduly sentimentalizing it. The drawings by Fritz Kredel complement the text. Well timed for Lincoln's birthday promotion.
