This might do for younger children but this age group would like it on their own. It is the story of a song -- perhaps the world's favorite Christmas carol. It is traced back to the village in the Austrian Alps, and pictures the priest and the school-master working out the carol for their own people. Then the song was taken out into the world -- its origin lost -- and when finally it was traced to its source, that source was rarely credited, and it became part of the people's heritage. This book celebrates the 125th anniversary of the original writing of the song. Frits Kredel has caught the feel of the story in his pictures.
