GILBERT AND SULLIVAN

When I told Winthrop Ames that there was another biography of Gilbert and Sullivan in the offing, he declared there was nothing more to be said. So I asked him to read the book, and this is his report: ""The most entertaining of all the biographies of Gilbert and Sullivan. It contains all the old anecdotes and several new ones, and many of Gilbert's famous repartees. Not a critical analysis of the artistic talents of either, but a gossipy story of their lives and collaboration. A book for Gilbert and Sullivan fans if they don't object to having their idols shown as very human and sometimes not wholly admirable."" -- In view of the definite revival, this should mean sales.
