KIRKUS REVIEW

So reads the message which impressionable David Gibbon receives from an almost unknown woman after she has died, asking him to determine whether from really natural causes or otherwise. Through the members of her household, her distant doctor husband, he makes his inquiry and the evidence diverges, converges again in the duality of the deceased with the woman who had taken her place... Predicating if not preempting a certain mood, this is vaporously romantic.
