KIRKUS REVIEW

An addition to an excellent series of books in text and pictures, dealing with faraway countries. (Russia- China- Holland preceded this one.) This is perhaps the most successful of the four, a colorful, attractive story about the things children want to know about other countries,- holidays, carnivals, birthday presents, parties, schools, kinds of houses, favorite foods, sports, animals, city and country life, something of the history and the struggle for independence, and the coming of the republic. The cities and their characteristics, and the work done in and about them. Lively text, spirited pictures, with decorative as well as factual detail, reproduced in sepia and brown.
