THUMPS

This is a rather trying little story by Hetty Beatty and it doesn't measure up to her other work. Thumps is a little pig who runs away to join a circus. There he learns all sorts of bright tricks and saves the day when an elephant goes on the rampage, by tying its trunk to a pole. Far fetched and too graceless to be convincing. The author's colored pictures in her characteristic heavily weighted style are of people and animals in typed poses and attitudes.
