An ordinary mystery western, notable rather for the author's handsome, sturdy woodcuts rather than the narrative. Young Bill comes to live on his aunt's ranch and the only horse for him to ride is spiritless Bronto, considered unworthy of being broken in by all the hands. Before Bill's faith in the erring horse is justified, he and Bronto discover a new mesa trail and make a rather spectacular capture of a marauder that leads to the recovery of foreman Lem's stolen prize cowpony. Dreams-of-glory appeal.
