It seems like a contradiction in terms to call this sure-fire for chiller fans, but that's what it is. The selection indicates a younger stage of young adulthood than the definite designation of the sub-title. Included are some of the stories necessary to a good grounding for the well-read escape reader; an excerpt from M.W. Shelley's Frankenstein together with her explanation of how she came to write it; a short Wilkie Collins; a brief appearance by Sherlock Holmes, the sleepwalking scene from Macbeth; some superfluous poetry (the editorial intentions are admirable but not effective); and Hawthorne's Rappacini's Daughter.
