She's played ducks and drakes with the old nursery rhyme idea in pinning new and very sordidly realistic duties to Monday's child, Tuesday's child and so on. But it is a novel idea, and the eight children (Sunday produced twins, to swell the congregation, I suppose) have odd adventures running down their own slated futures -- and finding out they have a chance to choose, after all. The text scampers up and down the page, with pictures worked in, and there's a certain obviousness -- a sort of nursery rhyme pattern -- that is fun. Printed in two colors.
