In 1762 in Connecticut, where his father was a minister, Jared Sprague finds a puppy he called ""Blessing"" in the village graveyard. The little dog is a pest chewing everything he can find and even interrupting the long church service. He is in disgrace until he is instrumental in finding a little girl who is lost.
