Capsule case histories woven into an interrelated web make up this story of a concentric pattern of iniquity and innocence which starts with a disreputable doctor and ends up in the dope racket. Stupid, ignorant Dr. Kroll works his way from partial veterinary practice into partnership with an abortionist and a near death heads him into drug pushing which brings opportunist Linderman and his addict mistress into his office. From then on it is Carla's descent into suicide which finishes the drab current events into fiction rework. Solid but sordid.
