KIRKUS REVIEW

The condemned man's plea so intrigued Favorite Sleuth Police Chief Fred llows that three weeks of his vacation time went into the reopening of the murder ase in which the prisoner had been tried on circumstantial evidence. As execution ate nears, Fellows plays ""Beat the Clock"" with all official doors slammed on him and is further hampered by a publicity hound private eye who hinders with his ""help"". The careful plot is carried by the excellent dialogue to a surprise ending.
