A BRIDE FOR HAMPTON HOUSE by Hillary Waugh

A BRIDE FOR HAMPTON HOUSE

By

Pub Date: Oct. 3rd, 1975
Publisher: Doubleday

The bride is Corrie, a girl reporter with just enough Lib and lip to be tired of ""taffy pulls,"" who witnesses the last fatal drink given Jefferson Wainwright, who had supposedly disappeared for good in the Amazon and now turns up in an intensive care unit back home where all his relatives will profit with his decease. Corrie decides to follow up on what she's seen, poses as his unsuspected bride, is exposed to that murder room in the cellar and mummified corpses--the most recent one still showing a few vital signs and being none other than Jefferson. Waugh is back in the form where he's had tenure for years and he retains your attention while not quite usurping your belief.
