THE LATE MRS. D.

The death of the young wife of a middle aged doctor seems beyond suspicion, until a crank letter prompts an inquiry, then an autopsy. With the facts that her two predecessors had also died, that her death had been ""misdiagnosed"" and she had been the victim of phosphorus poisoning, the doctor seems a perfect pigeon- until letters to her, from a lover, lead the local (Connecticut) police on a long, inconclusive and seemingly hopeless detour... A sure touch here for a likely, likable story.
