KIRKUS REVIEW

One of the great football coaches has written one of the soundest, most helpful and thorough books on the fundamentals and strategy of modern football. Crisler, whose Princeton and Michigan teams won top laurels, gives here in impersonal, almost scientifically precise terms, the details of the how, the where and the why of the play of individuals and team. He stresses every phase of the game, blocking, passing, tackling, punting, etc. It may prove a little tedious for the spectator's reading, but for the coach, the player, the dyed-in-the-wool fan, this book should prove a football bible for years to come....An old football player admits that the coach of today knows the details of the game more thoroughly, and passed on that knowledge in better fundamentals and strategy than did the coaches of yesterday.
