THE WEATHER OF FEBRUARY

A total recall skims the surface of a personal past as an unidentified ""1"", invalided in a wheel chair, looks back over the some forty years of her life. Waiting, although with no assurance that he will, for her lover to return, she recites her emotional experiences with a naive to rather bland detachment; the marriage, at 19, to Robert- a teacher- at first idyllic and later irritable; the baby lost, after Robert had left her; the brief romance with P.R. who was killed in Okinawa; marriage again to a dull banker which was ended by an automobile accident; and finally the affair with the sometimes mean-tempered, mercurial Andy which brought her to Mexico where now she faces the uncertainty of her future- with or without him.... Through all of this, Mr. Summers' heroine -- a small town girl out of a parsonage similar to that in Brighten The Corner (1952) -- remains disconcertingly uninvolved and she confides her story with a childlike candor and relience.
