A thoroughly readable, somewhat fictionized life of Aaron Burr, which presents him in no rosy light, but as a brilliant, erratic, unstable, unscrupulous man, who dealt lightly in hearts and lives and fortunes. Somewhat colloquial in style of his American Talleyrand -- one feels that the fascination of his subject has run away with his biographical instincts. But it is good reading.
