First published in 1938, by Modern Age, under its present subtitle A Practical Handbook of Birth Control, this has been through ten printings and in its new, revised and rewritten edition brings its material up to date. For professional distribution, it is a practical manual in which medically approved methods are evaluated and dangers are indicated. There is discussion of feminine hygiene, abortion, sterilization and contraceptives. Recent material includes the new forms and composition of physical and chemical contraceptives, the tests for efficacy, the biological method of safe periods and temperatures, the expanded philosophy of Planned Parenthood for the regulation of proper sized families and the encouragement of responsible parenthood, the contributions of infertility studies. Responsible fact finding, this is a standard item in its field. The new title has organization value.
