CHIPPER

This is good introductory material to a point of view about small wild creatures, rather than to actual facts about them. Actually, it is a story -- but it really happened, so is included under Fact Books. Chipper was a chipmunk, who liked to play better than to store up food for winter. His curiosity about the giants in his world led him to investigate humans, and he made friends who fed him the seeds which were his favorite food, and gave him enough for the winter stores. Finally, when he was convinced he had tamed these particular giants, he brought his family. The Wyncie king illustrations are done from the chipmunk's viewpoint.
