THE WISHING WINDOW

If you belong to the school of thought which endorses the policy of conditioning children to life by allowing them a share of understanding of what is going on outside the nursery walls, you will like (as we do) this story of two French children. They learned the hard way -- the meaning of invasion and conquest, of privation and fear -- yet they kept alive their imagination and sense of play. The story is simple enough to be read aloud to this age group and is better gauged to juvenile consumption if interpreted by a sympathetic adult.
