COMMEND THE DEVIL

A very modern story of the present generation at odds with the surveillance and jurisdiction of their elders. In this particular tale, the problem faces an aristocratic widow who has alternately spoiled and disciplined per son, a tubercular, and her daughter, who married a rotter as a gesture of defiance. Her daughter's marriage and her son's affair with a dancer both break up, and the two become involved in a sabotage case from which the mother extricates them -- for the last time. Inconclusive, with immaturity of writing and plot, a fragment of modern life rather than a rounded story -- but Coxe is talented.
