Dealing exclusively with pewter in Great Britain since its first use by the Romans, it gives a little history- of the guilds, and the ordinances, of pewter marking and secondary marks. A central section of some 76 beautiful photographic plates reproduces fine examples of pewter ware. At the close there is an alphabetical list of pewters and their marks, and an index to devices, numbering over 6000 in each case. A Valuable and handsome republication.
